UKTV today announces World's Most Dangerous Roads is coming back to screens for a brand new series (8x60'). Produced by Renegade Pictures for Dave, the show returns with a vengeance as each episode brings together a pair of comedians to send them out on an extraordinary road trip.
Back on TV for the first time since 2012, the new series has been extended to eight episodes. Existing friendships and rivalries will be tested to their limits, as household name comics get behind the wheel for some of the most perilous conditions, phenomenal landscapes and riveting driving challenges to be found across the globe.
World's Most Dangerous Roads is produced by Renegade Pictures, commissioned for UKTV by Hilary Rosen, deputy director of commissioning and head of factual, and ordered for Dave by Richard Watsham, director of commissioning, Luke Hales, Dave channel director, and Steve North, genre general manager, comedy and entertainment. World's Most Dangerous Roads is executive produced by Harry Lansdown and Natalie Wilkinson and the series director is Graeme Hart. The series will be distributed by BBC Studios Distribution.
Hilary Rosen said:
It's great to be working with Renegade once again and on a much-loved show. This series will go all out and bring some of the biggest and freshest names in comedy together, as they battle some of the harshest roads in the world. These journeys will not be for the faint hearted.
Luke Hales said:
World's Most Dangerous Roads is a firm favourite with the Dave team and our viewers. We love the original series and plan to honour it while making the show even bigger and funnier, with a selection of the brightest UK comics taking on these extreme challenges. Never before have a group of individuals been less equipped to deal with everything these genuinely terrifying roads throw at them.
Harry Lansdown, Renegade Pictures, said:
We are very excited to be getting back out on the road with some of Britain's best loved comedians. The trips will force these stars out of their comfort zone: together they will drive some of the world's most challenging routes and also discover surprizing things about themselves and their co-drivers.
World's Most Dangerous Roads joins other recent Dave commissions, such as Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable and returning Comedians Giving Lectures, Hypothetical, Sliced and Expedition with Steve Backshall. Coming to the channel in the first half of 2020 are Big Zuu's Big Eats, Meet The Richardsons and Comedy Against Living Miserably as well as returning favourite Red Dwarf for a feature length special.
World's Most Dangerous Roads airs on Dave later this year.

Ever since it was knee high to a TV remote, Dave had an idea. It wanted to be the first place viewers would come for brand-new, award-winning comedy entertainment from the biggest and brightest stars and production companies in the UK. And in the years since, it has launched some of the most exciting and best-loved titles on TV, including the launch of Taskmaster. The channel's critically-acclaimed established comedy hits Hypothetical, Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier and Comedians Giving Lectures will shortly welcome the forthcoming Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable. And it's not just in front of the camera where the comic genius lies either, with a wealth of scripted treasure such as Sliced, the upcoming Meet the Richardsons and a first ever feature-length special for Red Dwarf.
Dave's not content on just making you laugh and share gags with your mates though. Expedition with Steve Backshall and Hurricane Man show off regions and aspects of the earth never before seen on TV while the resurrection of the hit series World's Most Dangerous Roads promises to test some of the UK's biggest comedic friendships to their absolute limits. Eddie Eats America and Big Zuu's Big Eats deliver mouth-watering food shows with a Dave twist while Red Bull Soapbox continues to delight with its boundless capacity for invention.
The partnership between Dave and CALM continues to grow, having launched the "Be The Mate You'd Want" campaign, the Conversations Against Living Miserably podcast and its first commission on the horizon, Comedy Against Living Miserably for three stand-up specials.
Reaching 20million viewers a month, Dave's come a long way, but it's only just getting warmed up.
